Rolin Dean Minot, known for his dedication to family, faith, and country resident passed away peacefully at Autumn House East in York on Saturday, Nov. 2, as detailed in his obituary.
Born on June 26, 1923, in Sunbury, Rolin was the son of the late Lyal and Mabel (Rothermel) Minot. A dedicated member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Emigsville, he retired from Weis Markets, where he worked in the dairy department after moving to York.
Rolin's service in the U.S. Navy began in 1942 during WWII, where he served as Radioman 1st Class on the U.S.S. Lawe. After his honorable discharge in 1948, he met Jean while working at Miller’s Furniture in Waynesboro, eventually moving to York and starting his long career with Weis, as explained in his obituary.
Outside of work, Rolin enjoyed relaxing with a cigar, playing pool, and cheering for Penn State. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 201.
In addition to his wife, Madaline “Jean” (Barnhart) Minot, Rolin is survived by his son, David Minot; daughter, Linda Frymyer; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan E. Craley, son Steven M. Minot, grandson Brian E. Craley, three sisters, and three brothers.
